Hotel Nordik is the ideal place for hikes and nature walks, thanks to its location at the foot of the Forni and Gavia Valleys.
Among the natural attractions accessible by trekking paths of varying lengths are the Forni Valley, home to the Cevedale and Sobretta glaciers, and Lake Cancano, an artificial basin surrounded by mountains.
There are many hiking trails in Santa Caterina Valfurva, suitable for different levels of difficulty and interest.
Hiking and Trekking in Santa Caterina Valfurva
Hotel Nordik offers its guests a rich program of excursions in the Stelvio National Park with the medium mountain guide from the Lombardy Region Alpine Guide College, Simone Compagnoni.
One of the trails most appreciated by our guests is the Forni Valley (or Tibetan Bridges) trail: on this page, you can find all the information about the trail.
Other hikes, which we recommend always undertaking with an authorized guide, include:
- Santa Caterina Valfurva - Ables - Rif. Stella Alpina - Cerena Loop: a circular itinerary of about 10 km that starts from the village center and climbs up to the Stella Alpina Refuge, passing through the village of Ables and Lake Cerena.
- Monte Sobretta: a challenging climb of about 14 km that leads to the summit of Monte Sobretta (3296 m), from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the surrounding glaciers.
- Santa Caterina - Forni: an easy walk of about 5 km that follows the paved road or the trail on the opposite side of the river, up to the Forni Refuge, a starting point for other excursions in the Forni Valley.
- Rifugio Forni - Rifugio Branca: a glaciological route of about 7 km that crosses the Forni Glacier and reaches the Branca Refuge, located at the foot of Monte Cevedale.
- Santa Caterina - San Nicolò: a walk of about 6 km that starts from the village and follows the trail along the Frodolfo stream, up to the small church of San Nicolò, nestled in greenery.
